Basics of Booking Stud Service
Determine Fit & Timeline
Our stud is suitable for dams 40 to 100 lbs in size, who have had at least one heat cycle.
Saliva ferning is a reliable way to determine receptive estrous periods and we can coach you how to collect these samples to determine if your dam is ready.
Brucellosis Screening
Brucella bacteria lives in the reproductive tract, will kill all of your puppies, and can be transmitted to humans with serious consequences.
All dams presented for stud services must have proof of a negative brucellosis test within one week of live cover mating.
Schedule Meetup
We prefer to do live-cover breeding as it has the highest success rates. After you determine the approximate heat dates, we'll clear the calendar for a period of three (3) days for at least one live cover breeding at our home.

What color will the puppies be?
This really depends on what your female brings to the match. Here's an overview or Roscoe's contributions:
Let's connect on Embark.
Embark has a Pair Predictor that will help zero in on the genetic outcomes of a match between Roscoe and your female.
Will you stud to doodles or non-poodles?
Short answer: Yes, with conditions.
Standard Poodles Aren't For Everyone
We understand a full-octane standard poodle isn't the right match for every situation. They're wicked smart, independent and require a high amount of grooming care on a regular basis, making them expensive and intensive to own. But they're wonderful companions.
Goldendoodles as Disability Service Dogs
We support and donate puppies to qualified service dog organizations, and many prefer goldendoodles over poodles.
The end client requires a dog with a stable body size + less intensive grooming requirements. Doodles have the obedience of the retriever and the smarts of the poodle and make excellent service dogs.
What about Other Doodles?
The body size of sire and dam must match. Temperaments and health status must be stable.
Good matches include goldendoodles, whoodles, shepadoodles, cockapoos.
We will not propagate dogs that aren't a good body size match. The orthopedic risks are too great for future puppies.
What if we've never done this before?
That's okay. We have, and we're happy to tell you what we know. Here are some basic touchpoints:
It's expensive if done right.
Upfront, there's health testing, stud fees and possible travel expenses. With a dam, plan on having a reserve fund if something goes wrong during pregnancy or birth. A c-section, emergency treatment or post-whelp complications can drain a bank account quickly. Puppies need shots, tail and dew claw docking, too.
Messy, stinky, and amazing.
Having puppies in a house is a messy, stinky endeavor. Also amazing. But plan on living an intensive round-the-clock routine for at least 2 months. It's like having multiple human newborns. Hard, hard work.
Finding homes is time intensive.
Who can resist a sweet face? Many puppy shoppers out there who will reach out, seem serious and then back out at the last minute. Have backup plans for your backup plans. A frequently-updated social media page and advertising on Puppies.com will help cut down on the interruptions.
Protect yourself legally.
Send puppies with contracts and clearly delineate your obligations to puppy buyers. Think about any guarantees or warranties you may offer and whether you will offer them to new homes as pet or breeding animals. Consider a deposit policy.
